The pupils in the senior room visited Canal Lock 2 in Ballyconnell on 7th March. The lock is part of the Shannon-Erne Waterway, also known as the Ballyconnell-Ballinamore Canal.

The tutors Gareth, Darren and Brian showed us how the lock works, and we watched a boat going through the lock.

We learned about the different tools engineers use, including tape measures, a level, a trundle wheel and GPS positioner.

We all got a Waterways Ireland hat, a hi-vis vest, a keyring, a pen, a pencil and stickers. It was a very interesting and educational visit.
